What is a fillable PDF?

A fillable PDF contains interactive fields, often called AcroForm fields. Click in the document with a standard PDF viewer. If a text box accepts typing, it may be compatible. Some PDFs only look like forms: the lines are just pixels or artwork, and a program cannot write into those spaces without an extra layout or OCR step. Our demo reads field names from a PDF. It can match common names such as “applicant_name” or “email,” then present the proposed value for your review.

Why field matching needs a human.

A form might contain “your name,” “dependent name” and “emergency contact name.” Blindly filling every name field would be a mistake. The review screen exposes the PDF field name and lets you edit each value. Leave unclear fields blank and complete them in a PDF viewer after reading the original form.

If it is a scan, start somewhere else.

A scanned page is an image. Converting its appearance into editable fields requires OCR and a method for positioning new text. Those capabilities are outside this browser demo. Request a fillable version from the organization when one exists.

Understand what the signature page does.

The workspace adds an image of a drawn signature to a separate review page. It does not insert the image into an original signature field or meet a recipient’s specific digital signature standard. If the form demands certified signing, use the process named by its issuer.

1. Open the downloaded PDF and inspect every page.
2. Compare names, dates, amounts and account references with your source information.
3. Complete any checkboxes, selection fields or signature fields the demo did not handle.
4. Confirm the recipient accepts the format and submission method.
5. Store or delete the local files according to your own privacy needs.
